Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show "Stop War, Stop Zelenskyy" Billboard In Tokyo Ads Only

Was there a digital billboard displaying the message "Stop war, stop Zelenskyy" in Tokyo, Japan? No, that's not true: The video has been doctored and the original shows digital advertisements.

The story appeared in a video (archived here) where it was published by @planet.404 on TikTok on August 1, 2023, under the title "Tokyo. Billboard." The text on the video (translated from Russian by Lead Stories) reads:

Tokyo. Billboard. Stop war! Stop Zelenskyy!

The reverse image search of the TikTok video resulted in a YouTube video called "Night walk in Tokyo Shibuya" which was posted on October 19, 2020. At the 20:25 mark identical objects begin appearing with the LED displays showing regular city advertisements.

The pedestrians are seen wearing face masks which were mandatory during Covid-19 in the year 2020.

The geolocation using Google Maps confirms the location of the video.
