Fact Check: TikTok NOT Being Banned In Ukraine No Ban

Is it true that TikTok is being banned in Ukraine as of April 10th? No, that's not true: There is no credible account of such a policy being implemented in Ukraine as of April 11, 2023.

On April 4, 2023, this video (archived here) was posted on the TikTok account @pypsik_negrik.

Below is how the post appeared on TikTok at the time of this writing:

The claim has been shared on a number of TikTok accounts in the Russian language (here and here). Users following this claim on the app have since prepared for a migration to Telegram, and other platforms.

The petition, put forward by Natalia Karasyova Myroslavivna and registered on the electronic petitions page of the Ukrainian presidency's website on March 24, 2023, reads:

Since there is a lot of propaganda going through videos from TikTok, I suggest closing it completely, at least for the period of the war in Ukraine.

Lead Stories performed a Google search for news and evidence of TikTok being banned in Ukraine on April 11, 2023, and found no credible reporting of such a policy.
