Fact Check: Eminem Did NOT Comment On The War In Ukraine In Video Voice Over

Did rapper Eminem show his support for Ukraine in this video? No, that's not true: The audio translation is a fabrication for a video that was produced in 2010, four years before the Russian occupation of Crimea and 12 years before its invasion of Ukraine.

The story originated from a video (archived here) where it was published by nnewmann1 on May 6, 2023, under the title "Eminem about Ukraine." A translated voice-over says:

You know, many say that the counteroffensive will fail and Ukraine will not take back Crimea, but for a second, I will say that Ukraine has already done a lot for its victory. Something that America could not do, Ukraine has already achieved. So I suggest other countries should shut up and learn from Ukraine.

The original video filmed in 2010 shows Eminem speaking about an upcoming rap competition in Detroit called the 8 Mile Battle Series. The video is an advertisement for competition sponsor Red Bull. In it, Eminem discusses his rap style, influences, and his plan to host the upcoming competition. The video is featured at Red Bull Emsee: The Road to 8 Mile Battle Series.

In a 2010 ad campaign for Red Bull EmSee: The Road to 8 Mile, Eminem talked about his own freestyle career and what he expected from the competition that year.
